What is the COVID-19 DevNW Membership scholarship?

If coronavirus has impacted your income, DevNW is now offering full scholarships for annual DevNW Memberships through August 31st, 2020. A $75 value. Engage in phone or web-based financial counseling and financial wellbeing classes at no charge.

How do I engage in the membership free of charge?

Go to our Sign In/Sign Up page and enter coupon code “wellbeingK7” when you reach the payment page to receive a $75 discount. Alternatively, you can contact one of our offices to register over the phone Monday-Thursday.

Who is sponsoring these scholarships?

Thanks to the generous partnership of Citizens Bank, Columbia Bank, KeyBank, Oregon Pacific Bank and US Bank, we are able to offer this scholarship. Together, we are working to support our community’s financial wellbeing in a time of challenge.

What is a DevNW Membership?

A DevNW membership gives your household access to unlimited financial counseling, classes and workshops for one year.

Do you offer financial counseling and classes in Spanish?

Yes. We have bilingual counselors and instructors you can work with. Speak another language? Check out the Oregon IDA Initiative’s website for providers of other languages.

How are you offering your services during the health pandemic?

We are currently offering financial counseling via Zoom or by phone. All of our classes are currently online as well. Click on the DevNW Calendar to see a list of upcoming classes.

Why would I want financial counseling?

No matter how much you earn or how your income has been affected by COVID-19, everyone can benefit from looking over their financial picture with an expert. Think of it like coaching--the goal of financial counseling is to help you improve your financial status over time. Financial counseling can include a range of topics, including money management, credit, debt, and making a plan to deal with life in the middle of a financial crisis. DevNW financial counselors are HUD-certified and are committed to a consumer-friendly-first and non-steering approach.

Who is eligible?

If you have experienced a reduction or loss of income caused by the COVID-19, you and your entire household are eligible for this DevNW Membership scholarship. There is no written proof required—the scholarship is based on the honor system.

What does the DevNW Membership scholarship include?

A full year of complimentary financial counseling. A full year of classes and workshops including Financial Foundations, Homebuying Foundations, Youth Financial Foundations, Student Debt, Investing, Wills & Life Planning, Side Hustle, Social Security Planning, Home Maintenance and other financial wellbeing workshops.

What does this scholarship not include?

It only includes DevNW Membership programming. Our other services that are priced separately, including home equity conversion mortgage (HECM) counseling, Student Loan Debt counseling, and IDA application fee are not included.

How long is the promotion?

The promotion runs from now until August 31st, 2020. You can start your full year membership anytime until this date.

Have you ever run this promotion?

No. We have never run a promotion of this magnitude in our 40-year history. This is a unique time, that calls for unique programming shifts.

DevNW became the oldest community development non-profit in Oregon when Neighborhood Economic Development Corp. and Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services joined together in 2019.
